Origins of the AVAPE Network The AVAPE Network originated in the vast experience of AVAPE, which since 1982 attends to persons with all types of disabilities and in situations of social vulnerability, in the areas of clinical and professional rehab, personal and social development, community programs, training and inclusion in the world of labor. Besides being the first organization in its segment in the world to receive ISO quality certification, it has won several domestic and international awards in recognition of its technical and scientific know-how, by adopting a differentiated holistic view of those its assists and focusing on their efficiencies. This is a network of licensee organizations which will use the AVAPE brand and/or methodology subject to an agreement and constant supervision. The organizations selected to be a part of the AVAPE Network receive support from a team of specialists when implementing the units and rendering them operational, in addition to monitoring of the programs multiplied. Social inclusion of persons with disability requires strong mobilization by society, as more than 25 million Brazilians have some kind of disability, more than the population of several European countries. An expanded Network will enable AVAPE to significantly increase the number of persons with disability receiving assistance. Support from the IDB
The expansion of the AVAPE Network has received recognition and support from the Interamerican Development Bank (IDB) through its Multilateral Investment Fund (FUMIN), which will permit replication of the Rehabilitation, Training and Professional Inclusion Methodology across Brazil’s five regions, benefiting 12 NGOs by 2010. In the future, it will also operate on the international scenario. Benefits of the AVAPE Network
1 – For the licensee organization: - Inclusion: expanding the inclusion of persons with disabilities and in situations of social vulnerability. - Interlocutor: strengthening the network of relationships with public and private initiative in its region. - Sustainability: mobilizing resources and partnerships with different segments of society for its perenniality. - Strengthening: contributing to improved attendance services management, preparing itself for a more effective role on the political, strategic, tactical and operational scenarios. - Representativeness and Visibility: expanding its exposure in the local regional and national spheres, contributing to strengthening its image, credibility and transparency. - Professionalization: promoting and strengthening qualified technical training, with the emphasis on areas dedicated to total rehabilitation and respective management. - Security and Credibility: being part of one of Brazil’s most successful social networks and a member of a differentiated Federation that defends and fosters the expansion of assistance to persons with disabilities and/or in socially vulnerable situations.
